Elastomers

 Synthetic rubber is derived from petroleum-based feedstocks and has several advantages over natural rubber, including better resistance to abrasion, temperature variations, and chemical exposure.   


  • NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber):Commonly used for oil and fuel resistance, considered a cost-effective option for moderate temperature applications. 


  • HNBR (Hydrogenated Nitrile Butadiene Rubber):An improved version of NBR with better high-temperature resistance and overall chemical stability. 


  • FKM (Fluoroelastomer):Known for its excellent resistance to a wide range of chemicals, high temperature tolerance, and suitability for harsh environments. 


  • FFKM (Perfluoroelastomer):Offers even greater chemical resistance and higher temperature capabilities compared to FKM, often used in demanding applications like aerospace. 


  • EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer):Resistant to hot water, steam, ozone, and weathering, making it suitable for applications like automotive seals and gaskets exposed to outdoor elements. 

Polyurethanes

Polyurethane (PU) is a synthetic plastic material that's used in many products, including seals, bushings, rollers, and gaskets. It's a versatile, durable, and flexible material that can be molded and machined into many shapes and sizes. 


Common Types:

  • Soft, resilient (60A-85A): Used in particle impingement services
  • Medium durometer (85A-95A): Used in abrasive slurry pump impellers
  • Very hard (65D-70D): Used in bushing and bearing 
  • Polyester: More resistant to oils, solvents, and weak acids/bases
  • Polyether: More resistant to water exposure
